Glenn Thomas Kendzia - Solo Album Pre-Release Show (Ticketed Event)
Join us upstairs for an exclusive pre-release of Glenn’s debut solo album. The album is a first dive into Glenn's folksier, singer-songwriter music -- a sideline to the alternative rock he’s become known for in the area. The resulting record is big, lush, and full of new sounds that include a string quartet, pedal steel guitar, and vintage keyboards. Recorded in Nashville in the Spring of 2019 with producer Jordan Lehning (Rodney Crowell, Kacey Musgraves, Andrew Combs), the album is in many ways the biggest undertaking so far in Glenn’s career.
The album will be released in April 2020, EXCEPT for those attending this show. Your ticket buys you the album 8 months ahead of its release, and all attendees will receive an advanced copy of the CD at the door -- think of it as a Kickstarter or Crowdfunding Campaign in person. That night, Glenn will perform the songs from his new album, along with cuts from his extensive catalogue of music. He'll also give a brief talk about recording the album, and how you can help with that process now that the recording is complete.
Date: Thursday August 15, 2019
Time: Upstairs Doors open at 7:30, Program begins at 8pm
Tickets: $15 advance or at the door
Bio: Glenn Thomas Kendzia is the songwriter and frontman of the alternative rock band Wild Sun, who has quickly become an emerging staple in the New England music scene. The release of their debut album, produced by Bryce Goggin (Phish, Pavement) in 2015 on American Laundromat Records found their music in Top 200 rotation on the national college radio charts. Under the Wild Sun name, Glenn had a cover of Elliott Smith’s “Easy Way Out” on the nationally acclaimed “Say Yes! A Tribute to Elliott Smith” album featuring J. Mascis, Julien Baker, and more. Glenn has shared the stage with national acts such as Eve6, The Wombats, Blitzen Trapper, The Barr Brothers, Rubblebucket, Watsky, And The Kids, and others. In 2016, the band was mentioned by Rolling Stone, Spin, Billboard, Entertainment Weekly, and their debut album “Little Truths,” was named one of the Top 20 Albums of 2015 by Motif Magazine alongside Wilco and Kendrick Lamar.
With "passion that could be felt shining through the performance. (Pancakes & Whiskey, NYC),” Glenn’s show both solo and with the full band are not to be missed.
"When Glenn sings, he feels it—the music, the song, the lyrics, the truth. You can tell that he sings of a deep and personal truth. Behind the jokes is someone who was meant to play music." - 95.5 WBRU
